Our Mission is...to find permanent and suitable homes for animals in need (owner surrendered); to provide interim humane care for those animals, and to promote the humane treatment of all animals. Our extended mission includes humane education, volunteer opportunities and interaction with pets, and addressing animal-related problems in the community.
Description:
The ARL/SRI was founded in 1938 by a group of concerned volunteers to give aid to animals in the community. Our shelter, built in 1970, can accommodate 27 dogs and 60 cats (or other small animals) at any one time. We are a private 501-c-3 non-profit organization supported solely by donations and grants. We are a "limited access" shelter and do not euthanize animals in our shelter simply to make room for others. Our shelter animals receive veterinary care, spaying and neutering, basic behavior training, and lots of tender, loving care.
