Encore is an innovative celebration that illustrates the power and vitality of arts & business partnerships. • Gallery Projects: This program provides professional exhibition opportunities to visual artists in several venues, including site-specific installations, roving curated exhibitions, a quarterly exhibition at the Renaissance Providence Hotel, and operational marketing support of Queen of Hearts, an original apparel and accessories boutique. • IndieArts/ri: This latest initiative serves as a resource to our community of emerging artists and supports independently-produced events and arts happenings via a website, blogs, marketing services and public events. • MetLife Foundation National Arts Forums: This nationally-funded program provides opportunities for local leaders to examine both national and local trends and relevant issues. A&BC/RI uses the forums to engage participants in a dialogue to explore ways to navigate challenges and opportunities facing the arts & business sectors. • Professional Development Workshops: These events educate non-profit arts managers and leaders about ways to increase earned revenue through innovative audience development planning, best practices and innovative business development and marketing skills from leaders in the field.
History:
A&BC/RI was originally chartered in 1989 to operate the Business Volunteers for the Arts as an affiliated program of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. Over time, A&BC/RI expanded its programming to offer a full complement of business services, and it became independent from the Chamber in 2006. Today, A&BC/RI is recognized as Rhode Island’s only non-profit arts service organization that works to promote cultural and economic growth through leadership, partnerships, and programs that link the arts and business sectors.
