Our mission is to grant the fondest wish of medically qualified children age 3 through 18 who have a life-threatening illness, and live in Rhode Island and areas of Southeastern Massachusetts.

Description:
A Wish Come True has completed more than 1100 wishes to medically qualified children who live in RI and areas of Southeastern MA. We are a local, not national, wish granting agency. Having only one full time employee and three part time employees on staff, we have accomplished this through the efforts of many dedicated, caring volunteers. Over the years, an estimated 75% of Wishes granted to the children in Rhode Island and areas of Southeastern Massachusetts have been to visit Disney World. Other examples of wishes granted are computer wishes, entertainment centers, shopping sprees, cruises, playhouses, a trip to the World Series and celebrity meet and greets, just to name a few. We include the entire family in the wish process. A wish granted to a child with a life threatening illness captivates the entire family, it gives the child and his/her family something else to think about besides the illness that has consumed their lives! A Wish is a cherished memory. To accomplish this, we need and rely on volunteers. We cannot do what we do without you!

History:
A Wish Come True, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Rosemary L. Bowers who is still active today after 25 years. When A Wish Come True opened, it was the first wish granting agency in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. A Wish Come True relies on the local community for support, as we are not a part of a national organization. We are local people working for local children with life threatening illnesses.
