A pro-peace organization dedicated to helping create peaceful relationships on all levels. We have three primary missions: (1) Providing opportunities for children and adults to create flags that display their wishes for the world: (2) Celebrating the UN International Day of Peace; and (3) Creation of Peace Parks.

Description:
While we are interested in inner peace and world peace, our primary concern is the space in between -- the space where we live every day. Our focus is on how we live with our families, friends and community members; what kind of citizens, coworkers and colleagues are; and how we educate our children and work for social justice. It's about leading healthy lives with meaningful jobs and living in safe neighborhoods. It's about affirming our need for artistic expression and appreciation for culture in all its diversity. It's about how we live on this planet and use its resources. It's about appreciating the connection of all life physically and spiritually.

Our Peace Flags, celebration of the Int'l Day of Peace and our peace parks are each small steps to make this a more peaceful world. We know that experiencing peace communally is a powerful thing, and we know that small efforts can add up to significant change. Our work is to inspire more people to consider how they might create more peace on the planet.

History:
The organization was cofounded by two RI women, Ginny Fox and Jane Maguire. After four years, Ginny Fox has become Director of the Peace Flag Project, and Jane has retired. Our organization is sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee of SE New England. We have a most helpful and supportive Board of Advisors, made up of various community leaders, educators and clergy.
