Vision: ALL children in Providence will enter school healthy and ready to learn
Description:
Ready to Learn Providence is currently recruiting 35 members for the R2LP AmeriCorps program. Together, the 35 members will work to promote early literacy for the children in Providence; create a link between parents and child care providers and their neighborhood libraries; and build the capacity of child-care providers to improve the quality of their programs and integrate early literacy activities into their programs. Members will come together on August 1, 2008 and by early fall, 10 will be placed at Providence Public Library branches and 25 will be place in a variety of early-care and education settings (child-care centers, Head Start, parent outreach programs, R2LP, etc,).
History:
Ready to Learn Providence (R2LP) is a citywide coalition working to transform and enhance the city's early care and education system. As part of The Providence Plan, we are investing in early care and education providers, promoting parent engagement, and supporting partners like schools and public libraries.
