Position title: Board Member
Description: Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, a nationally accredited non-profit home health agency is seeking members for its Board of Directors. The mission of VNS is to provide community services that promote optimal health and quality of life for individuals and families. Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties offers Home Health Services,Hospice and Palliative Care, Ambulatory Clinic services, and Community Service groups and programs.
Responsibilities of a board member are as follows, but are not limited to: understanding the difference between for profit and non-profit organizational goverance; working collectively with other board members in decision making; actively serving on one board committee each year; approving budget and fiscal planning; sharing personal expertise on committees, projects and volunteer roles as needed; helping develop community understanding of the Agency's services and programs through representation of the agency at events or goverance meetings in the communities served as well as supporting the Agency in it's marketing and fundraising efforts.
We are currently recruiting board members from Jamestown, Bristol, Warren and Little Compton. Knowledge of health care, marketing, fundraising and non-profit management preferred.
