Raising Hope After School is organizing a one day event on May 30, 2008 sponsored by the Rhode Island Tobacco Control Program to educate the public and bring awareness on the impact of Tobacco Ads on smoking by young people in Rhode Island. About 1,400 youth, under the age of 18 years become daily cigarette smokers in Rhode Island, partly due to the inviting and luring ads by tobacco companies. This event will involve a soccer shoot out to break or bring down tobacco ads posters pasted to a goal post.
The event will take place at Alfred Lima Sr. Elementary School, Providence. Time: 3:00 p.m.,
Volunteers would assist members of the organization and children on the day of event to set up, supervise and support the event in anyway needed.
