Volunteer advocates will provide support, information, referrals and safety planning to victims at hospitals and police departments throughout Rhode Island. The next volunteer training begins on January 9th, 2008, followed by the 14th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, 30th and 31st. All training sessions are 6-9PM on the designated evenings. This training will provide you with skills, knowledge, and confidence that will enable you to work with victims of all ages. There is a particular need for volunteers who are bilingual and able to work with diverse populations. The Victims of Crime Helpline is a collaborative project between Day One - the Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center of RI and the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center, on behalf of the six domestic violence agencies of the RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Requirements: Application, pre-training interview, references, back ground check and the completion of Day One volunteer advocate training. Vehicle is required.
