Is is the mission of Golden Opportunities to enhance the quality of life for those who are experiencing isolation, loneliness, or helplessness by providing them with outreach services of comfort, compassion, and support.
Description:
The specific populations served initially by Golden Opportunities are residents of eldercare facilities and caregivers (i.e. parents of seriously ill children, those who care for elderly shut-ins, etc.). As Golden Opportunities grows, other populations facing isolation and a sense of helplessness will also be served. We serve residents of eldercare facilities by providing interaction with caring, compassionate visitors, by engaging them in purposeful projects and tasks, and by granting their special dreams and wishes. Golden Opportunities serves caregivers by creating a peer support network that offers weekend respite programs. We also publish and distribute a semi-annual newsletter intended to keep their network of support viable and useful.
History:
Golden Opportunities was established in August 2006 and has provided local eldercare facilities with caring and committed people who agree to volunteer a minimum of two hours per month. Our volunteers are paired with residents through common interests and provide companionship and human interaction, greatly benefiting the residents well being.
