The mission of Kevin's Community Center is to provide free quality healthcare for persons over the age of 18 who are uninsured or underinsured and have limited financial resources.
Description:
Kevin's Community Center, Inc. is a non profit free medical clinic founded in 2002 by Dr. and Mrs. Z. Michael Taweh of Newtown, Ct, in memory of their son Kevin. The clinic instantly made health care accessible to those who had no choice but to let long standing health issues go untreated. Since the clinic opened it's doors, KCC has provided over 2500 patient visits and provided greater than $2,000,000 in free medical services. Additionally we have a network of physician specialists who will see our patients at no charge. Danbury Hospital provides free laboratory work for KCC patients and radiology services are provided by Housatonic Valley Radiology. Newtown Drug Center offers KCC patients prescription medicines at reduced costs.
History:
KCC is staffed by a cadre of volunteer physicians, nurses and administrative support. Over 85% of all funds go directly to patient care services.
Our vision is to have an independent facility to increase our capacity to see more patients and establish a comprehensive health care facility that will include educational programs, an outreach support center, a library for health information and enrich the lives of those most in need within our communities.
