We are a community-based organization whose purpose is to foster an exciting cultural environment in the greater Danbury area by staging a variety of professional cultural events with a foundation in classical music, jazz and dance. We want to make available to our residents quality performances that will entertain, stimulate and inspire the audience while reflecting our ethnic diversity.
Description:
Our immediate and primary goal is to cultivate, build and develop paying adult audiences while striving to achieve full attendance at the Charles Ives Concert Hall at WCSU (a seating capacity of 780). It is also our goal to increase student and young adult (13-27 years of age) attendance at our events and develop student enrichment programs.
Command Performance is pursuing intermediate and long term goals (3 years and beyond) that include: building audiences and staging cultural events that would fill a 2000 seat concert hall; developing student enrichment programs, workshops and performances that can be formulated with the collaboration of the local university and public schools; have a paid staff that includes an executive director, artistic director and office support.
History:
Command Performance, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit performing arts organization, which was formed in June of 2000. Our focus is to stage in Danbury a variety of exciting and entertaining cultural performances similar to those being presented at premier concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Purchase Center for the Arts and the Bushnell in Hartford. Since our formation we have successfully staged eight highly professional performances; we have collaborated with five other local non-profit organizations to produce and stage two charitable cultural events and we have produced one community event using local musicians
