As an essential city asset, the Danbury Public Library is committed to being: a welcoming destination; a convenient gateway to the best sources of information, cultural enrichment and possibility; and responsive to the varied needs of our city's diverse population.

Description:
The Danbury Library offers "hot off the press" bestsellers, hundreds of audiobooks, including the latest "Playaways", thousands of educational and entertaining DVDs and videos, large-print books and a huge selection of children's and teen materials. Specialty programs are offered throughout the year including storytimes, adult, teen and child summer reading programs, computer classes in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Over fifty computers with high speed Internet are available free of charge. Additional service highlights include practice tests for CT driver's license test, wi-fi, group meeting spaces, library catalog in Spanish, and book discussions for teens, kids and adults.

History:
The Danbury Library has long been in the hearts of City residents since the White family donated their homestead in 1869 to open the City's first public library. Today, the library is host to a wide variety of services and collections, priding itself in keeping pace with up-to-date technology, information services and materials to meet the needs of Danbury residents and employees.
