The mission of this agency is to protect children by supporting families.
Description:
Services to families at risk of child abuse/neglect are provided free of charge. One-to-one and group modalities use a nurturing, non-judgemental approach and home visiting to help parents learn child development information, non-physical discipline, home management skills, and life skills which reduce alleviate stress and lead to reducing the risk of child abuse/neglect, improving family functioning, and increasing independence.
History:
Incorporated in 1976 as the Danbury Regional Commission on Child Care, Rights and Abuse, we have been providing help to troubled families through the following programs: Parent Aide, Teams, Parent Education groups, Volunteer Mentor (for parents), and Read With Me. In 2004, our name was changed to the Danbury Regional Child Advocacy Center to better reflect our services.
