The mission of AIDS Project Greater Danbury is to advocate for and provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS, their families, and loved ones and to actively promote AIDS education and prevention in the community.
Description:
APGD is committed to providing comprehensive supportive services to people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. An active volunteer Board of Directors serves as the governing body while the Executive Director manages the daily operations of the agency. Client services include: Case Management, coordinating APGD services and outside agencies' services; a residence and residential staff; community housing referrals; mental health and substance abuse counseling; transportation; emergency financial assistance.
In keeping with our mission and to better serve our community, APGD in 2002, expanded services to include HIV Counseling & Testing, Youth & Community Outreach and Education, and a Needle Exchange Program.
APGD does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. All services are provided confidentially.
History:
AIDS Project Greater Danbury (APGD) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1987 by Dr. Donald T. Evans and a group of local residents motivated by extreme concern for people living with HIV/AIDS and the impact of the AIDS epidemic in the Danbury area.

From Hartford:
· Take I-84 West to exit 5. At light at the end of ramp, go right onto Main Street.
· Follow Main Street through 7 lights (Including light at exit ramp). West Street is at the 7th light (the Library is on the corner).
· Turn right. #30 West Street will be on the left. Turn left into the driveway after APGD. Drive up the small hill in the church parking lot to park. Parking in front of the building is metered.
From Norwalk/Stamford:
· Take Route 7 North all the way to I-84.
· Take I-84 East to Exit 4. At the end of the ramp, go left at light. This puts you on Lake Street which will become West Street.
· #30 West Street will be on your right after the yellow Lighthouse Ministries Church· Enter the driveway after the church and before APGD. Drive up the small hill in the church parking lot to park. Parking in front of the building is metered. |
