The FRIENDS of the Danbury Library is a non-profit volunteer organization working to further the educational and informational needs of the community through its support of the Danbury Public Library. It is the responsibility of the FRIENDS to administer and invest funds raised, donated, granted, or endowed for the benefit of the Library and the public interest.
Description:
Opportunities for volunteers exist at the Book Sale as Book Sorters, Set ups, Cashiers, cleanup. There is an opportunity for volunteers whenever the Library is open for Book sorters, shelf stacking, etc.
History:
For over fifteen years the FRIENDS have provided funding for the Library through its Annual Book Sales and its summer mini-sales. The FRIENDS generally budgets over $40,000 annually for supplementation of the expenses of the Library. Many volunteers serve in various functions to these ends.
