Volunteer Opportunities for Western Connecticut

Head Start of Northern Fairfield County is looking for members of the community to join our pre-school children in the classroom. Our Community in the Classroom project will match you with one of our 15 Head Start classrooms, located in Danbury, where you can be a guest reader, volunteer during free play time or share a special skill with the children. This can be a one time visit or you can visit anywhere up to 12 times per year, it's up to your schedule. Our Head Start kids really enjoy when members of the community come into the classroom and spend time with them, it makes them feel really important. This is a great opportunity for those with limited time but infinite caring. Some of the best experiences have been from adults sharing their favorite children's book with the children, so grab your favorite book and come join us!

Volunteer Orientation is held the first Monday of the month (except for the months of August and December) at 10 am in the Head Start Conference Room, 7 Old Sherman Turnpike, Suite 206 in Danbury. Please RSVP by calling (203) 743-3993, ext. 111. If you are unable to attend the Volunteer Orientation, an individual orientation can be scheduled.
