The American Red Cross embraces the fundamental principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, and Volunteer Services. We focus on Community needs as well as International Needs.

Description:
The New Canaan Red Cross consists of a team of people who have dedicated their time to assisting others. We service emergency and disaster victims. We host blood drives, and offer free transportation for doctor and/or hospital visits. Health and Safety classes are offered here at the chapter. The Youth Corps is a valuable part of our organization. Its mission is to tap into the skills and talent of young citizens so they may better serve their community and become leaders of tomorrow.

History:
The International Committee of the Red Cross was founded in Geneva in 1863. The symbol is the Swiss Flag in reverse colors. In 1881, the American Red Cross was established by Clara Barton. Its foundation is built on volunteers.
