The Friends of Ferguson Library is a non-profit volunteer organization established in 1979. Our mission is to support the priorities, programs and activities of the Ferguson Library.

Description:
We are not primarily a fund-raising organization but our activities do allow us to provide funding to the Ferguson Library for:
• Multiple Library Programs
• Summer Reading Book Discussions
• Film Programs
• Cultural Celebrations
• Capital Projects
• Pilot Programs
• Library Collection Additions
• Library Staff Development and Scholarships

In addition, we operate the following directly:
• Operate two award-winning Used Book Shops
• Special Literary Events
• Literary Competitions
• Book and Author Luncheons
• Author Events
• Distribute free books to local schools and agencies, prisons, courts and overseas programs through our Friend-to-Friend Free Book Program
• Provide a free first book to every baby born at Stamford Hospital through our Books-for-Babies Program

History:
Our organization has grown from a small cheer-leading committee to an award-winning and beloved community institution. We are all-volunteer but run as a professional organization. At this time, our working Board has about 20 members and our Used Book Shops have about 100 volunteers. In 2007, we completed the transition to an all online data-managed and communicated agency.
