The mission of the Fairfield Historical Society is to collect, preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the Town of Fairfield, Connecticut, for present and future generations.

Description:
The Historical Society disseminates and makes available to its members and the general public information about its collections and activities through scholarly research, regular publications, special interpretive programs and workshops, and permanent and changing exhibitions. Through its professional staff and volunteers, the Society develops and implements various out-reach programs directed towards primary and secondary school children as well as other special interest groups in the greater Fairfield community.

History:
The Fairfield Historical Society is a not-for-profit, privately supported, educational institution which operates both a museum and research library at 636 Old Post Road and an accurately restored and furnished eighteenth-century farmhouse at 1520 Bronson Road in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut.

The Society, chartered by the State of Connecticut in 1903, set as its purpose the gathering, preservation, storage and display of items and information of historic or artistic significance pertaining to the town of Fairfield and its environs, from its founding in 1639 to the present day.
