Childcare Learning Centers' mission states "CLC enriches the community as the leader in early childhood development by providing comprehensive, high quality early childhood education and care programs for all families."
Description:
Childcare Learning Centers, Inc., or CLC, provides comprehensive, developmentally appropriate early childhood education and care programs in lower Fairfield County for all children between birth and five years of age and their families. CLC differentiates itself from other early childhood providers by offering comprehensive services, including health maintenance and referrals, nutritionally balanced meals, nutrition education, family social services and parent participation programs. CLC programs focus on family-centered literacy and school readiness. We serve 1,100 children and their families at 16 sites in Greater Stamford. Established in 1902, CLC has grown six fold in the past 20 years.
History:
CLC was established in 1902 as the Stamford Day Nursery to provide care for the children of working families. During World War II a second center was opened for children of parents in the defense industry. In 1972 the organization became The Child Care Center of Stamford, and in 2002 we changed our name to Childcare Learning Centers -- shortened in 2003 to CLC - to reflect our many sites.
