Mission: To address the need for safe, structured and quality school-based programs for families and their children.
Description:
ROSCCO works in collaboration and partnerships with the Stamford Public Schools and community agencies to provide school-based direct service, educational, enrichment, recreational and cultural activities for families of the City of Stamford. ROSCCO is governed by a Board of Directors who are parents and current/past program users.
History:
ROSCCO (The Rogers School Community Center Organization) was founded as a community center organization to provide programs for the Cove-East side area of Stamford. Incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1975, ROSCCO is presently celebrating its 28th anniversary year. Its founders were community residents, parents, administrators and teachers of Rogers School. Their efforts were supported by both the City of Stamford, which granted ROSCCO Community Development Funds and the Stamford Board of Education which offered in-kind services. While maintaining its focus on school age/school based programming, ROSCCO has grown into a city wide network administering a variety of family support programs in many school buildings. The ROSCCO Programs address the need for safe, structured and quality programs for families and their children. ROSCCO seeks and welcomes corporate, foundation and private contributions. ROSCCO is the lead agency for the administration and implementation of the following Programs: Rogers Magnet School Family Resource Center-- Westover Magnet School Family Resource Center-- ROSCCO School Age, School Based Child Care Programs-- Teen Pregnancy Prevention/Positive Youth Development Program at Cloonan Middle School--After School Tutorial/Enrichment at Scofield Magnet Middle School--21st Century Community Learning Centers at Hart Magnet and Cloonan Middle Schools--and Stark Community School.
