Literacy Volunteers - Stamford/ Greenwich Inc. (LVSG) is a community-based organization that utilizes the services of trained volunteers to provide reading, writing and English language instruction to native and foreign born adults. Instruction takes place in small groups. LVSG's educational programs support the efforts of area residents to gain the skills necessary to achieve economic and personal self-sufficiency and to increase their potential of making greater contributions to the communities in which they live, thereby enabling them to participate fully in their children's education and to achieve their occupational goals.

LVSG provides new and gently used children's books to area clinics. Tutor-training workshops are held four times a year in Stamford and Greenwich, beginning in September of each school year.
