TAP’s mission is to increase awareness of prejudice and discrimination and examine its causes and roots; open dialog with and between students and educators from elementary school through college; and promote understanding and respect for all through the critical exploration and analysis of films, television, and other media.

Description:
TAP presents workshops at conferences on education as well as professional development workshops in schools. TAP provides speakers on the topic of prejudice, its consequences, and its underlying causes. Every fall, TAP sponsors an essay contest for middle- and high-school students. In the summer, TAP sponsors an art contest for elementary school students. TAP also offers consulting for curriculum development and for educational film and video projects. Another program is "Nature and Human Nature" walks with students.

History:
Elise Klein began using film and television in the classroom as a vehicle for understanding and discussion in 1992. She has shared her methodology and unique approach with countless numbers of teachers and students over the past eight years in the classroom and in workshops which she conducts. It is this commitment to confronting prejudice which led to the formation of TAP in Spring of 2000. Since then, TAP has held an essay contest each year, visited schools across the USA, presented at national and international conferences, and sponsored a video documentary project.
