Once again SCA-The Student Conservation Association- will be hiring high school students in the Stamford, CT area for its summer conservation crews. After a successful first year in Stamford we are excited to be significantly expanding the program and will be looking to hire 40 students for the 2008 summer program. The conservation crews work for six weeks (June 30th to August 6th), Monday through Friday, in Stamford area parks and green spaces completing environmental restoration and conservation projects. In addition, the crews participate in weekly environmental education activities and the last week will culminate with a four day, three night recreational camping trip. This unique opportunity allows students to earn money during the summer while making a difference in their communities and the environment. Students will leave the program with; a greater understanding of environmental issues both locally and globally, outdoor recreation and camping experience, applicable job skills, and a heightened sense of leadership and responsibility. If you are a high school student interested in becoming a crew member this summer please contact Lori Robertson to request an application at: Lori Robertson 203-912-9453 lrobertson@thesca.org
You must be 15-18 years old and enrolled in high school to be a part of the summer SCA crew. There is an attendance policy and we expect the students not to miss more than one day of the program. If you anticipate being unable to commit to the entire program we ask you not to apply. A mandatory student/parent meeting will be held on June 11th at 7pm in the Yerwood Center in Stamford. This opportunity is sponsored by: The Student Conservation Association
