Last updated on May 30, 2008

The mission of The Shyann Kindness Project is to spread kindness in memory of Shyann, while inspiring others to pass on random acts of kindness. Our goal is to serve children and their caregivers who find themselves in stressful situations brought on by illness or other traumatic events.

Description:
At least once a month, we give out kindness gift packages at different locations including hospital emergency rooms and clinics, feeding programs for the homeless, clinics for children with special needs, shelters for women and children, after school programs in poverty areas, and other programs where children and their families are dealing with stressful situations. These gift packages contain combinations of toys, coloring books, craft items, stuffed animals, etc. Books are also given out along with the kindness gift packages at each event.

"Shyann's Helping Hands," a branch of The Shyann Kindness Project, is a program designed for youth groups to promote self-esteem and confidence, as well as a sense of the importance of volunteering and community responsibility. Under the guidance of The Shyann Kindness Project volunteers, small groups take the kindness gift-giving program from “start to finish” by organizing a toy & book drive, assembling the kindness gift packages, and distributing them at a prearranged event.

"Shyann's Mentors" is a branch of The Shyann Kindness Project that offers mentoring services for parents of children with special needs. Our group of volunteers consists of parents and specialists who are willing to provide guidance and support in their specific areas of experience and expertise to help those who are struggling with issues such as Seizure disorder,
G-tube feeding, Cardiac issues, Brain trauma/injury, IEP (Individual Education Plan) support, School Aide support, Assistive Technology, Communication devices, Assisting with services such as DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities), ALTCS (Arizona Long Term Care Services), AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Containment System), Social work issues, Foster Care/Adoption issues and services, coping with the initial diagnosis, as well as support for Spanish speaking families.
