The University of Arizona Museum of Art is a forum for teaching, research and services related to the history and meaning of the visual arts for the University community, the citizens of Arizona and the southwestern United States. The Museum collects, cares for, exhibits and interprets original works of art. In all of its efforts, the Museum advocates for the expressive, intellectual and sensory importance of art in society.

The University of Arizona Museum of Art invites the community to engage with and learn from the visual arts through its vibrant exhibitions, vital permanent collection and extraordinary programming. UAMA has more than 5,000 paintings, sculptures and works on paper with the particular strengths being the Samuel H. Kress Collection that contains European masterworks from the 14th through 19th centuries; the C. Leonard Pfeiffer Collection of American paintings from the 1920s to the 1940s that include a Georgia O'Keeffe; European works of art by artists such as Picasso, and Rodin in the Edward J. Gallagher, Jr. Memorial Collection; The Jacques Lipchitz: Sketches and Models Collection; and the George Gregson Bequest of 19th and 20th century French paintings. UAMA averages 15 changing exhibitions a year that makes each visit to the museum a fresh experience. Docent-led tours, professional development for educators, family programs, and lectures provide ample opportunities for visitors of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy a satisfying art experience.
