The Titan Missile Museum is part of the Arizona Aerospace Foundation and the mission of the Foundation is "to create unlimited horizons in aerospace education through the preservation and presentation of the history of flight."
Description:
What was once one of America’s most top secret places is now a National Historic Landmark. This preserved Titan II missile site, officially known as complex 571-7, is all that is left of the 54 Titan II missile sites that were on alert across the United States from 1963-1987. This one-of-a-kind museum provides a rare look at the technology used by the United States to deter Nuclear War. During a one-hour guided tour, visitors view the massive 103-foot tall Titan II missile in its launch duct, descend 30 feet underground to see the 8-foot thick silo walls and 3-ton blast doors, experience a simulated missile launch in the launch control center, and much more. At the Titan Missile Museum, volunteers lead our visitors on a journey through time to stand on the front lines of the Cold War.
