Experience Corps is a national program that engages 55 and older volunteers in literacy tutoring at local elementary schools. Experience Corps tutors commit to 8-15 hours of volunteering per week and receive a modest stipend. Recently, the Tucson program was granted 32 new slots for stipend Experience Corps volunteers. We are in need of an individual(s) who can actively seek out opportunities to inform the communities around the elementary schools we serve about the Experience Corps program and the volunteer opportunities within the program. They will present to local community groups/organizations, develop recruitment materials, utilize current materials, and write various publications for local newspapers, magazines, and other types of advertising. The volunteer must be 55 years of age or older and be willing to make a 1-year commitment of 300 to 450 hours. They must be able to take direction, be punctual, have excellent writing skills, and experience in marketing is highly desirable. In return this volunteer will develop relationships with community leaders, receive a bi-weekly stipend, make a difference in their community, create their own hours, and accomplish some work at home.
