Feed kids, families, elderly twice a week

The Giving Tree operates Project FEED (Feed Everyone Every Day) at an empty lot on 22nd Street every Thursday and Sunday evening - rain or shine! The lot is located between Swan and Columbus Ave, next to Family Dollar Store. See the transformation this empty lot makes twice a week! Set up of tables, chairs, tents begins at 4PM, and the evening lasts until about 7:30. We usually serve to 190 hungry people each night. YOUR PART: Help serve food, help "mom" fix plates for her children or herself, help "mom" with her children while she fixes her own plate. We also hand out clothing and emergency food boxes, so you can be useful by finding out what our "guests" need and helping them find it. Of course, we would always welcome more food to put on the tables. If you would like to donate food to share, bring your best potluck recipe. Sometimes your best offering is smiling at someone that hasn't seen a smile in awhile.

There are no special requirements necessary to take part in Project FEED. We would love to have you fill out a volunteer packet available at our Broadway office, but you are also welcome to just show up at the site and offer your assistance. Just look for someone with a Giving Tree T-shirt on to find out where to begin.

This is a very fun thing to do!!!!!!!
I am 9 years old. My family and I volunteer with the Giving Tree Feeding Program and we think it is very fun! We have met some very nice volunteers, and best of all, we have met some very nice homeless people, too! I love going there on Thursdays and Sundays!

I have gained a greater understanding of the needy.
Volunteering has made me gain a deeper appreciation for food, clothing, my bed, and everything else that I own. I would suggest everyone to volunteer their time to help the people in need. This program is well organized!

It was very rewarding
I volunteered with my sorority, Chi Omega. I gained the realization of what life is really like for some people. I also learned about different organizations within the Tucson community that work to help many people get back into a good state of life.
