Project FEED (Feed Everyone Every Day)
General Information
Agency: The Giving Tree Outreach Program
Program name: Project FEED (Feed Everyone Every Day)
Description : Presently, The Giving Tree Outreach Program, through Project FEED (Feed Everyone Every Day), feeds more than 200 homeless and disadvantaged children, family members, veterans, elderly, and disabled individuals each night of our now biweekly feeding here in Tucson. If you like to cook (or can pick up something from a grocery store), we would love to get a prepared meal to serve at the lot we operate Project FEED from. We have our Thurs and Sunday feeding program at an empty lot on 22nd, between Swan and Columbus, next to Family Dollar Store. Families are provided with a hot meal, clothing, and emergency food boxes. Set up there starts at 4:00. The evening is finished by 7 or 7:30. I'd suggest bringing your favorite pot luck recipe. Bring it in an aluminum pan unless you don't mind taking home a dirty dish. There is no running water on the lot. We also need non-perishable food to fill those emergency food boxes with. If you’d like to bring canned or boxed food to pass out that would be an immense help to those that can’t afford to buy groceries. Unfortunately, a lot of children are served food with no nutritional value because it’s less expensive than healthy food. You can drop emergency food box donations off during the feeding program or at our Thrift Shop at 4221 E. 22nd St at the NW corner of Columbus. The Thrift Shop is open Mon-Sat from 9-6 and Sunday from 1-4. We'd love to have you be a part of our program regularly. The feeding program is just one of the many options we have available. Give us a call or come talk to us in person to find out where you are best suited. You can help by bringing food to share, serving food, helping people find the clothing they need, or just being a smiling face and a kind word.
Hours of Operation: Thursday and Sunday evening, 4PM - 7PM
Eligibility Requirements: If you go to the Thurs or Sunday feeding program, go to the back of the lot and check in at the Volunteer Table or just find someone with a Giving Tree T-shirt on. They will give you a name tag and tell you where you are most needed. If you want to bring food, that would be wonderful! Dress accordingly. This really is OUTDOORS!
