To stand firm, strive together, and effectively serve the poor and needy of the Knoxville area in Jesus' name!
Description:
The number of homeless has grown in the Knox area, and their faces have changed. More and more, they are women, children, and entire families left in the lurch not just by addiction and mental illness, but by disappearing factories, vanishing healthcare, and a relentlessly rising cost of living. At KARM, we shelter nearly 400 people and serve more than 1,000 meals every day. For people on the road to recovery, we offer biblically-based counseling, addiction treatment, and therapy as well as job training and employment services in our long-term residential facilities. But we also offer something no program could ever provide--We offer a loving network of staff and volunteers who are totally devoted to the people they serve…who stay when the going gets rough. And stand fast in the face of setbacks. It is these remarkable relationships that are the key to helping the homeless put their lives back together. For in the end, we know that facilities and programs offer hope. But the love of Christ changes lives.
