The mission of ETTAC is to enable people with disabilities in East Tennessee to participate in the mainstream of society through innovative uses of technology
Description:
ETTAC is a nonprofit agency located in Knoxville, Tennessee that provides a unique service in 24 counties of East Tennessee: creating solutions through the use of technology for people with disabilities of all ages and all disabilities. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale from 0 to $75 per hour, and no one is denied services because of ability to pay. Services are provided at ETTAC as well as in the community (homes, schools, workplace, nursing home, etc.).
History:
ETTAC was founded in 1988 by a group of people who had an uncommon belief in the power of technology to change lives. In the past 20 years, ETTAC has grown from a part-time staff located in space donated by The University of Tennessee to its present location of 6,000 square feet and a highly qualified and trained staff of 11 people.
