Prevention Is Key is dedicated to the promotion of health and well being of our community, preventing substance abuse, addiction, violence and related issues through heightened awareness, advocacy, education, programs, services, information and referral.

Prevention Is Key is a community-focused non-profit organization providing science-based prevention education programs, professional development training, advocacy, information and referral services, and the county’s most extensive resource center with up-to-date materials that address issues of substance abuse, violence, ATOD dependence and emerging issues of concern to the Morris County Community.
The agency is the primary provider of science based prevention programming in Morris County. Staff routinely work in every school district providing prevention services to students, staff and administration on an as need basis. Additionally, the agency is a registered Department of Education Professional Development Provider and further supports its commitment to our schools by providing teacher professional development trainings throughout the county.
Prevention Is Key is a primary participant in the Morris County substance abuse prevention and treatment field. The agency is home to the Morris County Substance Abuse Alliance, the Underage Drinking Coalition, the Task Force on Women and Community Partnerships Coalition. Through these bodies the agency actively shapes the landscape of prevention and influences positive outcomes for the county's diverse population
History:
Originally incorporated as the Morris County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in 1989, Prevention Is Key has operated continuously as the preeminent prevention services provider for all of Morris County. The agency is funded through a variety of sources including state and foundation grants, private donations and other philanthropic streams. Prevention Is Key is a member of the New Jersey Prevention Network.
