While in service with the Independent Living Preparation Program, the volunteer's primary duties may include but are not limited to:

 Tutor.
 Mentor.
 Accompany youth on recreational activities in the community.
 Coordinate of service learning or youth volunteer projects.
 Offer companionship and support to youth between the ages of 16-21.
 Maintain confidentiality.
 Provide effective role modeling for participants to encourage healthy lifestyles.
 Enforce program rules and guidelines consistently.
 Maintain consistent communication with supervisor and other staff.
 If an incident not consistent with agency policy occurs, fill out an incident report and turn it in to the supervisor on the day of the incident.
 Represent Volunteers of America, Dakotas in a positive manner during all dealings with the public.

Date/Time Commitment: Service hours vary according to placement.
Experience/Skills: Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and pass a child abuse and neglect screening. Experience teaching life skills and knowledge of the community resources are helpful but not required.
