 A Tax Preparer provides free basic tax return preparation for eligible taxpayers. The free service is designed for taxpayers with income under $40,000, and completes only very basic returns. Returns are completed on laptop workstations and later electronically filed off-site. All taxpayer's are screened and returns are quality checked.This is a valuable service in our community and a truly rewarding experience. An IRS exam on basic tax knowledge must be successfully completed. All tax reference and exam materials are provided by the IRS. Tax Law training is not necessary but is available in January. Minimum commitment is 2-4 hours per week. Basic computer skills are necessary to complete tax returns. Volunteers should be Friendly, dependable and flexible.
