Youth Empowerment Program is an employment and training program for youth, ages 18-21, in the Manchester area. We aim to encourage and guide youth in making positive choices about their future.
Description:
Youth Empowerment Program is an employment and training program for youth, ages 18-21, in the Manchester area. YEP helps students prepare for the GED as well as build occupational skills that will provide a more stable future. The program also works on building life skills as a way of enhancing self esteem and empowering youth to be self sufficient. Though academic success and job placement are goals for each student, the program assesses the individual needs of each student to see what will help him or her reach her highest potential and raise her personal standards.
History:
Southern New Hampshire Services Inc has been in existence for almost 40 years. This community action program believes that in order to most effectively help those in need, an agency must provide services that address all of a family's or individual's needs. Southern New Hampshire Services house programs such as food stamps, WIC, Headstart child care, employment counseling for unemployed or dislocated workers, elderly housing, commodity foods, and fuel assistance, just to name a few. Southern New Hampshire Services decided they wanted to offer services to youth in the city and created the Youth Empowerment Program. In our third cycle, we follow the same mindset of trying to provide all services needed for someone to be successful.
