To bring entertainment and musical joy to the local communities of lower Bucks County through concerts and programs which strive to honor and celebrate the best of America's spirit while providing an outlet for any musician or vocalist willing to share of their talents.
Description:
Foster the love of community band music by providing a forum in which musicians and vocalists can grow and share their musical talents. Provide entertainment for shut-ins and the local community by presenting at least eight major concert band type of performances each year. Celebrate the best of America's spirit by presenting programs celebrating holiday or patriotic themes. Provide a mentor program to assist young musicians in developing their talents. Encourage outstanding musicianship in local high school students by providing college scholarships for students planning on studying music in college.
History:
The Southampton Community Band was founded in 1998 by Colonel George Lynch and Dr. Gil Guglielmi, conductor emeritus of the Warminster Symphony Orchestra. The band has 70+ members and rehearses on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Southampton Estates, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966.
