Description:
Senior Community Services(SCS), a non-profit agency founded in 1977, SCS has one aim: to ensure that older adults enjoy positive aging. SCS in partnership with Delaware County Services for the Aging (COSA) and benefits from support from the community. SCS is the largest provider of services to Delaware County's older residents and their families. Programs include operating four nationally accredited senior centers, care management, counseling, Family Caregiver Support services, in-home support services, recreation therapy, Center Without Walls classes and enrichment, Insurance counseling, volunteer opportunities and leadership.
History:
Senior Community Services (SCS) is a non-profit organization established in 1977 and dedicated to helping older people in Delaware County to live independently in their own homes. Three decades ago SCS began with one small center but with an extraordinary mission to help older adults in Delaware County. SCS now operate four nationally accredited senior center, sponsor programs at dozens of community sites and provides a scope of services for homebound elderly county-wide. SCS reach expanded dramatically over the last 30 years. We have delivered nearly 200,000 thousand meals, provided support services to homebound seniors, families have benefited from caregiving services for elderly, approximately 6000 senior citizens participate at our senior centers, we have provided over 35,000 Breakfast and lunches at SCS senters. Additionally we provided care management, hearing loss counseling and eduaction, (SCAH) recreation therapy services to homebound, (Apprise Program)health insurance couseling, many many leadership and volunteer opportunities
