The mission of Royal Gardens Association is to foster community development and involvement through the beautification of our park (Royal Gardens in Morris Park) and anti-graffti projects.
Description:
We strive to provide a safe and drug free environment by installing a concerned neighborly atmosphere through our volunteer efforts and to promote positive, constructive outdoor activities for all to enjoy.
History:
Royal Gardens Association was founded Saturday, October 29, 2005 through the adoption program offered by the Fairmount Park Commission. Since founded, we have welcomed over two thousand volunteers with the removal of eighty four tons of debris. We have created two flowering-boulder rock gardens at our entrance, one sixty by forty vegetable/herbal garden, one perennial flower garden and we installed a gravel walking trail. Also, we have planted two-hundred trees and shrubs in the riparian area of the native land and thirty-six trees along the gravel walking trail. Through Pa. Cleanways, whom we are an affiliated chapter known as, (Pa.Cleanways of Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia), we have adopted four road ways in our local area to maintain the accumulation of debris and loose trash from their walkways. Our continued plan will focus on the creation of our wildflower garden and our flowering-shrub,rock garden through out our native lands area. Our entire project has been managed with a zero dollar budget and with no grant funding of any kind. All our planting materials have been either donated or recovered from the trash. We have partnerships with various universities, school, and at risk youth and adult programs.
