RSVP is a nationwide volunteer program for adults age 55+ in which volunteers utilize their talents and skills to enrich the lives of others in their communities.

Description:
Funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and administered by the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, RSVP partners with Philadelphia nonprofits that serve as volunteer stations throughout the city. RSVP volunteers use their life and job skills to: tutor and mentor children and adults; assist in hospitals, community health programs and blood drives; distribute food to those in need; advocate for the needs of older adults; teach valuable life skills; assist with a variety of one-time community projects and events; in many other capacities.
Benefits of enrollment include: free volunteer placement; educational and training opportunities; supplemental accident, liability and excess auto insurance; THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

History:
RSVP is a federally funded program of the Corporation for National and Community Service and has been in existence for nearly 30 years. RSVP is one of several sponsored programs for seniors under the National Senior Service Corps. The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging is a private, nonprofit Area Agency on Aging established in 1973 to coordinate social services for Philadelphians who are older or who have disabilities, in order to assist them in achieving optimum levels of health, independence and productivity.
