The mission of A Chance to Heal is to prevent eating disorders through early diagnosis, education and advocacy.
This includes the following:
*Reduce the long-term impact of eating disorders by promoting early diagnosis and treatment.
*Educate the public on the influences that promote eating disorders
*Increase public awareness of the costs associated with recovery.
*Advocate for change to ensure continued access to quality care through regulatory initiatives, insurance contract revisions, and corporate commitment to care.

A Chance to Heal has built a solid foundation towards raising public awareness about eating disorders in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Our programming includes:

*No Body's Perfect - conversational workshops held in schools, businesses, homes, and community centers that focus on our relationship to our own bodies and how this is influenced by outside sources.
*Medical Education - Grand Rounds for doctors in a hospital setting and brown bag lunch sessions for medical and nursing students on the clinical diagnosis and protocols of care for eating disorders.
*Middle and High School Programming – with the goal of increasing positive body image, self-esteem, and wellness, these workshops focus on body image, self talk, media literacy, and self care.
*ParentTalk - conversational workshops held in business, homes, and community centers on how to prevent eating disorders and raise children with a healthy relationship to food

History:
A Chance to Heal Foundation (ACTH) was established by Ivy Silver and her daughter Rachel following Rachel's treatment for an eating disorder. While receiving care, Rachel noticed disparities of care for other patients. Following her return home, Rachel became passionate about eliminating barriers to treatment, and founded ACTH with her mother.

A Chance to Heal represents all eating disorders – from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder to body dysmorphia.
