To foster music in the Philadelphia area. Our aim is increase interest in musical events and thus to help build audiences that will bring in funds and recognition for the musicians.
Description:
Philadelphia Music Makers is a nonprofit quarterly classical music magazine. We print articles about local amateur and professional musicians, conservatories, teachers, and public and private schools with special music programs, instrument makers and repairers - and all aspects of music making that increase understanding of performance and music itself. These articles are based on interviews by our freelance professional writers.
History:
The magazine is in its sixth year of publication, and has been deemed a help not only to musicians but to the city. Our readers give constant enthusiastic response to the magazine. We have no paid staff, and all the work has been done (unpaid) since the beginning by its two founders - editor and designer - with the help of our board members and volunteer advocates.
