COLLAGE / Occupational Therapy Programs provides innovative programming…to enable social competencies to flourish in children and adults with delays or deviations in developing social skills.
To do so, it provides regularly scheduled, social skill-enhancing group activities, supplemented with therapeutic individual and group interventions, educational outreach, and research. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

Description:
COLLAGE is a professionally guided activity-based therapy program for people seeking a place to learn and practice social skills in an emotionally safe environment. Groups are led by experts trained in analyzing activities and using them therapeutically to help group members achieve their individual social goals. They learn to adopt a positive and realistic view of their friend-making and interacting skills, and to take responsibility for modifying their own social behaviors. Populations served in the present 26 groups include “regular folks” who just don’t quite "catch on" socially, ADD, learning disabilities, language delays, giftedness, sensory integration deficits, autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger syndrome), etc.

History:
COLLAGE groups began in January of 1987 with 4 preteens. Collage-making, an activity that emphasizes both group participation and the value of the individual, was frequently employed in the early days, and COLLAGE later became adopted as the name of the weekly sessions. The name also suggests the concept that a new social whole is different from the sum of its important individual parts.
In 1992 Occupational Therapy Programs incorporated as a non-profit corporation. An active board of professionals and parents is dedicated to overseeing the development and funding of the expanding services.
In 1993 the orange logo was contributed to the growing organization by NGS Associates Design Communications of Wayne. It depicts a circle of friends, united in their ability to communicate and share. Yet from a distance, the logo could appear as an individual flower in bloom or a winter snowflake, each of which is utterly unique.
From the original group in Newtown Square, PA, the program expanded to include its current locations in Spring House and West Chester in PA, and in Wilmington, DE.
