Our Mission: To provide, free of charge, low-income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. We also set a foundation for lasting change through the meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities we provide to thousands of youth and adults each year. Description:
Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit agency that distributes children's clothing, books, toys, equipment, and school supplies to low-income and homeless children ages birth to twelve in the greater Philadelphia area.
We gather new and gently used products from community drives and individual donations, organize and process the goods in our warehouse, then work with established social service agencies (including social workers, schools and hospitals, and other non-profits) to distribute the goods directly to children in need. All products and services are provided free of charge, and thanks to our many dedicated volunteers and supporters we've been able to keep costs low and benefits high.

History:
Cradles to Crayons was originally founded in Boston in 2002 by Lynn Margherio, a former White House policy advisor and business consultant. After experiencing great success and rapid expansion, reaching 30,000 children in the Boston metro area in 2006 alone, Cradles to Crayons began to expand nationally. Two years ago, our founder Jennifer Case brought the Cradles to model to the Philadelphia region, and just last year we opened our doors on our current warehouse space and officially began filling orders from our distribution partners. Already, Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia has reached nearly 4,000 children and works with more than 80 partner agencies, and we're set for considerable growth in 2008.

From Philadelphia: Take I-95 N to the PA-63/Woodhaven Road exit (exit 35). From PA-63, merge onto US-1 N toward Morrisville. Exit onto the Turnpike/276 W. Take the Turnpike to exit 343, Doylestown/Willow Grove. Stay right out of the exit to follow 611 N toward Horsham/Doylestown.
