Church World Service is an international relief and development agency serving domestically and in over 80 countries worldwide. Within the US we assist communities in responding to disasters, resettle refugees, provide educational resources and offer opportunities for a people-to-people network of local and global caring through regional fund raising efforts. Internationally we work through local partners to meet disaster needs and provide sustainable development programs.
Description:
We are a non-denominational agency supported by over 35 different congregations and communions. As an NGO (non-governmental agency) we are able to meet the needs of people the world over, irregardless of politics or beliefs. In NJ our office is charged with providing education and raising funds to support the work of CWS. We provide speakers, materials and general organizational support for community fundraising efforts. We offer several inter-generational programs that allow people to participate and support our work within their own communities, raising awareness as well as funds. Community CROP Hunger Walks educate neighbors on hunger needs as well as raise money for local food pantries while also enabling the support of international programs. The CWS KIT program is a hands-on project for youth, service groups, congregations, anyone- to assemble common items(brochures available) into specific kits as a first response to disaster. The TOOLS & BLANKETS Program is a fundraising effort that simply collects donations to provide blankets or tools in any situation either on an emergency or development basis.
