Description:
Holy Redeemer Hospice is a non-profit organization that serves patients and families in southeastern Pennsylvania. The skill, care, compassion and professional expertise enables people with life-limiting illnesses to remain comfortable in familiar surroundings, supported by family and friends. Holy Redeemer Hospice services are available to people of any age, faith or illness. Care is provided in private homes or at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals or other inpatient settings. Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team, providing companionship and an emotional presence to patients, family members and caregivers.

History:
The congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer was founded in France in 1849 by Mother Alphonse Maria. With the establishment of the first convent in a Philadelphia row home in 1928, the Sisters have been ministering to the people of Philadelphia and its outlying areas for 70 years. The Holy Redeemer Health System was created in 1985 to unite all of the Holy Redeemer entities and to provide an integrated system of delivering quality care in a variety of setting -- acute hospital care, skilled elder care, long term care, home health care, hospice, and low income and transitional housing.
