The mission of East Division Crime Victims Services is:

To serve, educate, support and empower victims of crime in the 24th, 25th and 26th police districts.

To provide optimal services to address the emotional, financial, social and legal needs of crime victims and their families.

To act as a neighborhood resource and work towards achieving a safer community.

To ensure that victims of crime are aware of and exercise their basic rights.

Description:
East Division Crime Victim Services provides a myriad of services to victims of violent crimes in the 24th, 25th and 26th district. Services provided are:

*Information and support at preliminary hearings
*Information and assistance with filing Crime
Victim's Compensation Claims
*Information on the progress of the case as it moves
through the Criminal Justice System
*Court and trial accompaniments
*Assistance in contacting the right people in the
District Attorney's Office, Police Department and
other Criminal Justice Contacts
*Referrals to other social service agencies for
immediate emergency needs
*Short term counseling
*Assistance with filing and obtaining restraining
orders in cases of harassment and intimidation

History:
East Division Crime Victim Services has been serving victims of violent crimes since 1994. East Division is one of the most poorest and impoverished sections of the ciy of Philadelphia. It incumbases a mixture of Black, Latino, White and newly immigrated Asians. The mixture of races, religions, languages and cultures often lead to clashes of violence. East Division also has a high incidence of drug usage, sales and addictions which also leads to violent behaviors and high levels of victimization.
