Description:
Quest Therapeutic Services (Quest) is a not-for-profit organization that provides therapy services to enhance the development of children with special needs in the Delaware Valley. Quest specializes in providing hippotherapy, from the Greek word, hippos, meaning treatment with the help of a horse. Licensed pediatric therapists serve children with diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome, hypotonia, sensory integration dysfunction, autism, to name a few. Quest is also offering therapeutic riding. Therapeutic Riding teaches people with disabilities horsemanship and riding skills.
History:
The program, under the name of Harmony in Motion, was started in 1996 by a physical therapist that was trained in hippotherapy and interested in using the horse to help improve the motor skills of her pediatric patients. Over the next four years, the program evolved to become Quest Therapeutic Services, Inc. In December of 2000, Quest became a 501(c)(3) organization, operating a full-time pediatric therapy program specializing in hippotherapy. In November 2004 Quest moved into a new home on 10 acres and a heated indoor arena, viewing area and other wonderful features. Quest is now up to 65 clients a week, and continuing to grow.
