Description:
The Senior Center, in keeping with its mission, endeavors to provide our members with many different avenues to keep their mind and body active. We have several forms of exercise classes, exercise equipment, health seminars and workshops. We offer many interesting lectures that enable them to keep their brain and memory active. There are many clubs and classes that encourage socialization and comradery. We also provide a nutritious lunch each day.
History:
In 1972, one year seed money was provided by the Pennsylvania Dept. of Community Affairs. This fulfilled a need recognized by the Community Nurse, the Upper Perkiomen Community Council, and the Upper Perkiomen Valley Ministerium. The Center would encourage independent lifestyles, provide an atmosphere of fellowship and volunteerism and assist community residents through their mature years.
Today the original vision and mission of the Center continues. On average, 1,600 individuals participate in monthly Center activities. The Meals on Wheels program provides two meals daily to an average of 40 homebound elderly.
