Our purpose is to provide therapeutic activities and exercise in various forms using the horse and it's movement, while focusing on ability rather than disability. We are the only program of its kind in Philadelphia.
Description:
There are many volunteer opportunities available to interested individuals. We require that people be 14 years or older, sign our volunteer registration form and attempt to come on a weekly basis. Staff will train people to groom and ready our horses for therapy sessions as well as to become a side assist during the scheduled sessions.
History:
Pegasus was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1982 and provided equine facilitated therapy to children with disabilities; we were a fair weather program. We exist today in an indoor complex and operate year round and work with adults as well as children.
